Outdoor and Leadership Experience


Full Service Hut Crew Member, Appalachian Mountain Club, August-October 1998
Greenleaf Hut, White Mountain National Forest, NH
• As part of a crew of five, lived in and helped mountain Greenleaf Hut, 4000 foot elevation; cooked for, served and accomodated up to 48 guests per night; packed food up and took garbage out twice a week, and enjoyed the view.

National Outdoor Leadership School
Lander, WY, June-July 1998
• On four week Rocky Mountain Wilderness Course, learned comprehensive wilderness skills, including hiking, camping, Leave No Trace wilderness ethics, some Wilderness First-Aid, and rock climbing in Wind River Range, Wyoming; co-leda Small Group Expedition at the end of the course, including a four day fast.

Summer Camp Counselor, The Game of Village, Inc.
New Boston, NH, June/July 1995-1997
• Worked with middle school-aged children building and maintaining a model community on one acre of land; helped them collectively and individually develop, plan and build all aspects of the town including model houses, businesses, government, and land-use; co-ordinated recreational activity.

• Accepted with Class of 2002 and deferred for a year; expecting to graduate in 2003; prospective major in International Studies or Political Science

Project Vote Smart National Intern, Corvallis, OR/Phillipsburg, MT
February-April 1999
• Jack-of-all-trades including answering hotline calls, providing non-partisan political information, entering political information into database, and helping with project relocation from Oregon to Montana.

Conval Regional High School, Peterborough, NH
1994-1998
• Graduated in top tenth of class, 1998 National Merit Scholar Finalist, 1998 AP Scholar with Honor.

Other Skills and Interests


• Five years studying French
• Member, Vassar men's varsity soccer team, Vassar Outing Club, and College Democrats
• Interests include travelling, reading novels, journal writing, hiking, tennis, golf, and spending time outdoors.
