change at liberal arts colleges and universities Conference Participants In May of 2003 Venture co-convened a working meeting entitled, "Service Learning and Institutional Change at Liberal Arts Colleges and Universities," hosted by the Service-Learning Program at Franklin & Marshall and sponsored by the Corporation for National and Community Service. In addition to the Venture Board of senior academic officers, faculty members, recent alumni, community-based learning administrators, career services administrators, and religious and spiritual life colleagues participated. Faculty participants included those who have incorporated community-based learning and those who haven’t but who are interested in integrating student learning and issues of social justice. Wagner College President Richard Guarasci shared a vision for a curriculum and a co-curriculum for the "arts of democracy," and Franklin & Marshall College President Fry called for a "true institutional commitment to our local communities." In addition to information gathered from the first two dialogues, many new issues of common concern were articulated.
