college venture
College Venture is the program on which the Venture Consortium
was founded in 1973. It is designed to offer students a chance to explore other settings and themselves through specially designed, enriching, short-term job experiences. In addition, the program connects you to other student leavetakers, various leavetaking resources available on our website, and on-campus advisors who help
you think through the nuts and bolts of planning for your
leave of absence. College Venture has been helping undergraduates from Venture member schools make the most of their time off for over 30 years, and although taking time off is still unconventional, the rewards have never been more clear. For students who are thinking of taking time off, College Venture offers: Access to the jobs listed with the College Venture job bank and on the College Venture listserv. The job bank is a current listing of available, short-term job opportunities in the non-profit, private, and government sectors, with a particular emphasis on socially-responsible organizations. College Venture jobs: Support from your College Venture Program Coordinator, who can help you with setting learning goals for your time off, resume and cover letter writing, finding other work-related resources, and the nuts and bolts of planning your leave from the campus. Venture's central office will also be in touch with you after you've registered to find out how you're doing and to provide further assistance and support. Connection to a network of student leavetakers through pauseforum.org. pauseforum.org is an online community for students through the entire leave process. Visit the forum before you leave for advice, ideas, and inspiration; while you are on leave use the forums as a place to reflect; and once you return connect with other students who have shared a leavetaking experience. The College Venture list serv, which features new and updated positions being added to the job bank and new resources for leavetakers on Venture's website, is also an opportunity to connect with other students who are taking time off.
